It’s nti exactly I high scoring game.
174 and 174 vs 201 and 124 for 4 tbc.....

He got 29 of 69 in the first innings and just the 4 in the second.

I would hardly call it gone down hill again. Give the lad a few games before bashing him.

But then every odi game an England payer doesn’t perform, the forum does Suggest dropping them. So why not eh.

“He’s done” “never play for England again” “Lancashire should get rid” etc etc

Not looking good again for the young man I’m afraid - after s very bright opening season he’s dipped off again. Was dropped down the order to 4 which isn’t a good sign...

Perhaps he’s just trying a new batting spot.

Top 4 are still consider the best batters in the side.

Batting at 4 is hardly the death knell for his career

Seriously? At 4... behind a nightwatchman. Averaging 35 for the season, everyone calm down.

Calm down indeed- but hardly an England prospect at the moment.

Hameed needs time to develop and patience. He is not a modern style player in fact he is a bit of a throwback to the old days.
People commenting on here don’t look back to recent history of the development of young players in the long format of the game.

Cook and and Bell around 21-23 when they played test cricket, Ollie Pope more recently but he is middle order.Apart from those 3 most of our test players get selected a bit later.Whether that is right or wrong that’s how it tends to be...maybe because it takes more time in our conditions.

We are not India or Pakistan where they get younger players in far younger, it works for them but it’s not common over here.

I personally think Hameed has all the talent and temperament to make a very good test player, maybe he needs a move away from Old Trafford and a coach who can work with him better, and perhaps needs to find the drive to improve himself as well.

He started the season batting 3, moved up to open whilst Alex Davies was out injured, then dropped back down to 3 now Davies is back for.  He only batted at 4 as a night watchman dropped him down a place.

Personally I don't think he is doing much wrong at the moment.  Conditions have been heavily stacked in the bowlers favour lately with the amount of rain compared to a typical June.  The pitch at Derby was never going to produce a high scoring game.  Ultimately it rewarded the likes of Livingstone, Villas and Croft who were prepared to swing at anything that wasn't on the sticks, but not Hameed and Rob Jones who both tried to play with patience.

By that I mean not looking good for his chances of England selection - not for his county career. Although Lancashire did suggest at the beginning of the season that if he didn’t have a good season he was unlikely to be offered another contract - probably done enough to warrant another season though. Personally I’d like to see him at Essex working with Cooky a bit!

I think him playing 50 overs did not help him.  He had a good start to the season and his returns in the short format was not great which might have impacted his confidence.  I agree with some of the other comments that it might do him good to just move away from Lanc and find another county, change of location will help.  Lanc has pretty much indicated that they are ready to move on.

Hameed has been dropped by Lancashire and will be out of contract at the end of the season.

Probably for the best. Hope a chance of scene can help him get back on track.

Def for the best although it might not seem like that right now

Lancs have wanted rid of him for a while

He needs to go where the best coaches are to help him

Not sure where that would be. First thought would be someone like Alec Stewart at surrey
