You’re joking aren’t you? Counties are still a business and they are getting no return from him. They have been very patient with him, but it’s time to see if someone else can spark his undoubted talent.

Piles of runs for Derbys I think.

Not at all, and I know a lot of Lancs supporters are of the same opinion.  At 22 he is still learning the game.  The fact  that he performed to such a high level has meant that he hasn't been afforded the same room to develop as any other young batsman would get.  Lancs will regret this short sighted decision I think

Interesting decision and logically I can only assume that he had either somehow leveraged his performances in India for silly money, or was being a prat behind the scenes. Put in context, Jack Leaning has just left Yorkshire for Kent at 26 - he's never been a first XI certainty, has had patches of form and some ruts, yet word was another two years were on the table...

Someone else will get the best of the lad.

Hammed is averaging 28 for the season, the same as Jennings which, to put it in context is better than Karl Brown managed over a decade on the playing staff so whilst 28 is less than where it should be, it is hardly a disaster.

The only issue with his private life appears to be a father who coached him through his junior development and still seems to gold influence over his son.  The consensus view among Lancs members seems to be that the blame is on the Lancs coaching set up though, not the player

Ergo - worth a move to change things around. Lancs aren’t picking him, so why have him festering in the 2XI when he could be in the shop window scoring runs for someone else.

You don’t get in the England set up through sentiment or what might possibly be.

I am a Lancs supporter so looking purely from that perspective.  If he get a back into the international reckoning then it is because he is playing well for us.

Hameed had played a decent amount of 1st XI cricket this season and it was a surprise that he wasn't in the squad against Glamorgan - a decision obviously made because he was about to be informed that he would be released.  We were relegated last season in the back of insufficient batting so unless some signings are on the way in before next season, we are hopelessly thin on batting

We could speculate, purely on third hand rumours, a mate of a mates auntie who says he told her while out walking his dog.

Ummm...I think a big move in distance away from his roots and down southish...

Essex, to partner Cook.

If you’re serious then surely they wouldn’t ditch Browne

I think wherever he goes he will displace someone, looking for a gap somewhere leaves very few options.

Are you an Essex fan? What's happened to Westley? Not pulling up any trees at 3...

Browne is a good player and Essex are an ambitious club, Hass would have the next Couple of years batting with one of our best ever openers and learning about his approach and mentality.

Hameed is a young player with huge potential. It's a win win for everyone.

Not an Essex fan, just think they’re are other places where he won’t need to displace a bloke averaging 40+ with plenty of. Div 1 runs.

Agreed. Essex would be an odd choice. Browne, Cook and Chopra has just signed an extension to his contract.
There is a whole host of better options.

Isn't Cook Supposedly retiring at the end of the season?
