It has a nice retro look. Like the repairs people did in the 60s and earlier. As people have said, it's still used a lot in India to repair cracks. But I'd be concerned it might affect the ping in the repaired area.
If done properly, shouldn't be any issue

The one i did didn't seem most toes are pretty much dead

saw on bairstows bats blue ones when he scored the top you can see the binding or thats what i think.
