Way I see it is, we have not got our best 11 out, some playing should have been tested after the wc, lots not in form, lots made some attentions decisions, lots played badly.

Yet it looks like we still gonna win.

It's the established players who are playing getting out in the same manners again and again that bothers me most

Never thought I’d see 85 all out being a good first innings score
 :)

If the Ashes are on wickets and conditions like this it could be a total lottery

Jack leach man of the match here by miles...for his batting

Total road and 40 degrees yesterday, flood lights and rain today. Can't help but feel the cricketing gods are on team England of late!

England should win here, but with a top 3 who have been embarrassed and completely outclassed by a number 11 who averages 4 this year, Root looking out of touch, Bairstow on the wrong end of his purple patch and Moeen Ali looking to take up a new sport, there are plenty of problems that won't be fixed by adding Stokes, Buttler and Archer

Could an argument be made for Stokes batting at 3?

He looked the part in the world cup and is good technically

Moeen simply cannot play ahead of leach but he will

If Woakes and Broad wanted conditions to bowl in then they have them - once this rain goes it's set to be overcast and humid all day.

 ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

I think at this point Stokes can do whatever he likes haha, he would probably do well at 3 but might that be asking a bit much from him? I'd also want to keep him as far away from the new ball as possible just to make his job as easy as possible.

Moeen must be a seriously good guy, because he's a pretty average cricketer these days

How many times will Root say “character” in the post-match?
