Superstitions with your kit
« on: August 02, 2019, 01:56:52 PM »

Myself and a fellow forum member were talking about things people do to their kit as soon as they get it.

That could be they tape the ear protection on the helmet, snap the lower canes on pads, add a 2nd grip to the bat no matter what.

What do you do?

Im awful for this. Tape ear protection on lid, have chamois leather on the bottom of the pads as they wore down pretty fast on one pair i had now its just luck. I have electrical tape on the top of the handle wrapped pretty heavily as a counter balance, just because i borrowed a teammates bat once when mine broke mid innings, scored some runs and have done it since. I have one line of edge tape around the handle and a thicker part around the toe not for any protection at all just because i had a bat that had that and had a good season, use shoegoo for the exact same reason. I couldnt care less about the difference between shoe goo and a toe guard.

always put my left boot, pad and glove on first. no idea why just always have. hate people touching my bat but cant stop them it seems they cant avoid it.

pre game I like to pack the coffin as neatly as possible, OCD kicks in of its a mess.

obviously all the kit has to match

Can't bat in dirty whites, so will always have a 2nd set of clean whites just for batting in.

I used to be worse than I am now..

I keep the same grip for as long as possible. Current one on the favourite stick is particularly slippy now but I can’t bring myself to change it. It also started off white but is now more of a grey.

I’d recommend changing that, surely it could be detrimental to your own performance?

Always get a yellow grip fitted, and put a PAFC sticker on the back
