It picks up just fine mate 😁 I've always used a low middle and generally lower than this, which is around 185mm from the toe roughly, so not the lowest you'll see

Very low middle, at shorter blade, it's pickup should be fine,
While I just remember, had similar profile shorter blade at 2lb 11oz, couldn't even pick that up, sanded toe to duck bill, which improved pickup drastically and then... Sold it on 🙂

Seeing as he is the batmaker - I'm sure he'll make sure it picks up just right for him... ???

Cracking work as always Jonny. Big bat, stunning profile, good weight - not much more you can ask for! Those clefts look very tempting...

Cheers mate, appreciate that. Was pretty annoyed when I saw the crack as it was a light cleft, but luckily didn't go too far up. When life gives you lemons as they say! 😁

Top work again mate, looks a lovely shape and I’m with you on the slightly shorter blade, I’ll be using a 540 length blade this season.

As always mate the consistency in the shape and the lovely lines of the shape is just superb.

New custom shaped up for a customer today who's very old Nixon had given up. Following a video call to discuss he decided on a modern interpretation of his old bat, with a very low middle and an odd handle shape, very oval with a ridge at the top for the bottom hand, which you can see at the base of the handle on both bats.

35mm edges, 66mm spine with no concaving, will be 2lbs 12oz finished but feels really nice in the hands. Loved making this one.

As always, let me know your thoughts...

Thanks mate, appreciate it. It was refreshing that the customer wasn't bothered about edge size tbh, just said he wanted a low middle but with a good pick up he liked in the Nixon. Nice to not have to concave a bat too. Loved making it. Just waiting on my new stickers now to finish it off!

I'm sure it's worth adding this bat profile to your line, most people will love it and above all, you!

That’s a superb interpretation of the original bat Jonny, middle is far to low for me personally but the shape is very pleasing on the eye.

Busy week this week, with repairs, refurbs and new bats shaped. Struggled to update on here, so just a few bits to add while I can....

First up are two I've shaped for another brand who specifically asked for 2lbs 7oz or below. One is 2lbs 7oz with 65mm spine and 37mm edge. The other 2lbs 6oz with 60mm spine and 36mm edge. Both have only gentle concaving, nothing huge. Lovely sticks but way too light for me.

Second is a bat made for someone who brought their bat in with a crack in the toe. However, I soon noticed an issue with the handle (that's the handle pic 😳). This had caused some cracks to develop down the blade, so he asked me to fix it up best i could and ordered a new one too. The one I've made is 2lbs 10.5oz, 39mm edge and max spine and gentle concaving. Requested a similar profile to his existing bat but with a lower middle position.

Finally a bruiser of a bat. 2lbs 11.5oz. Customer just requested something around 2lbs 12oz with low middle and big 😆

Thoughts as always welcome.
