For those who have been using Keeley bats recently, what is the feeling around knocking in?

I asked Keeley when purchasing my bats and the response was that the bats are pressed well enough that I should be fine to take them straight into a gentle net session. They do not feel hard pressed (when compared to some of the GM bats I have my collection) and I will be rounding off the edges a little more before braving nets, but it would be good to hear how others have faired.

Yes in response to this, I've used mine a couple of times and they are more than good to go straight out of the packet.

I played against a mixture of spin and reasonably decent amateur pace and apart from some lovely cherries there has been no damage or seam marks on the bat

Hello everyone, newbie and first time poster here, picked up my first Keeley in the Autumn, visited the factory and got the full VIP treatment since the only people that were there were Tim and Nick. Got a full tour from Tim who also picked out a few beauties for me

I'm wondering about oiling to preserve the moisture content over time. I can see that its been waxed, will oiling help or am I better just to renew the wax over time. Am minded to do nothing for now and assess at the end of the season.

Appreciate any insights you can share.

The wax they apply is more for polishing the blade - I would definitely oil it a couple of times. I like the bat wax, which is solid state linseed oil, as it's easier to apply

I'd recommend scuff the face, and wax/oil the exposed parts!

Thanks everyone for their advice, I've ordered some wax, Tim put an anti-scuff sheet on in the factory. Presume I'll need to use some fine sandpaper to carefully remove the factory applied finish to the back and edges so that the wax can penetrate the wood.

Thanks again everyone.

No just apply the linseed oil/wax and leave it to soak in. Do that 2/3 times.

Have a watch of this - https://b3cricket.com/cricket-bat-preparation-care-guidelines/

Here is a lovely Superior shaped grade one with the nicest Black and gold worx stickers weights 2lb8oz - Has 38mm edges which seems quite big for a superior shape

The one on the right was sourced along with the bat below on velvetsky post at just under 2lb 8oz and the other is a Keeley pro that’s quite big at 2lb 9oz.
