A Spikey question....
« on: March 01, 2020, 09:56:22 AM »

Hi all,

I have been using a pair of Spiked Reebok Trainers for 5 years or so and they are about to bite the dust, so I am interested to know what everyone is wearing and why.

Because Spikes have changed hugely since I last bought the trainers so don't think I need to get those done again to get the comfort levels etc...

Feel free to put the exact model you will be wearing in a comment if you like.

Thanks

I will be wearing my Adidas spikes this year, I may get a pair of asics spiked but that is 50/50 at the moment.

Old Adidas Howzat with full spikes for me.

I used to use ASICS but my last pair finally died after 5 or 6 seasons use.

I tried New Balance but they seemed to flare up my Achilles tendonitis quite badly, so the Adidas are the least painful option!

I’ve got a couple of pairs of the Puma 19.1. I had originally planned on using the NB CK10 I bought before crimbo, but they come up a bit too small.

They’re currently up for sale on a well known auction site if anyone fancies a decent deal on a brand new pair.... ;)

Spiked trainers all the way for me now. Got a pair of NB tennis shoes done and they're absolutely spot on - lighter than a cricket boot but more solid and supportive than a trainer.

How is the sizing on those, I should have gone Half a size bigger on my latest nb spikes and having looked at there tennis range that could be a great shout 👌

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

UK sizing on my pair is bob on, unlike the comedy sizing on their cricket spikes. Normally vary between 11 and 12 UK size and 11.5 is a good fit.

Been using ASICS gel advance 6 for the past 2 seasons, tried others but ASICS by far the best IMO

Thanks to everyone that voted, certainly some food for thought.

I actually think the most interesting thing is that 0 people said they were wearing GM/GN/Kookaburra spikes. Is that because we are kit badgers and are prepared to pay more? Or are they just not any good?

A few seasons ago I had a pair of kookaburra’s from sports direct. They were very comfy and lasted nearly 3 seasons. Excellent value for money.
I use Asics now, they’re better looking but no more comfortable or light in my view.
