In cleft form it�s much easier to tell if you can see the end of the cleft.

Does he have proof CA are doing the same and reselling as English Willow... I'! hesitant to buy one now if this is the case!

I very much doubt GM would pass it off as English willow, unless it was being sold to them as 'English willow' without them knowing.

Nope he doesn't but he says the dragon series, sumo, power etc are the biggest suspects. Come to think of it, The 50mm dragon i had that broke in 6 months ticked every box of European willow.

Saw some SH kook bats that looked like Serbian willow in Sports direct. They were only �39 and were not labelled as EW. I will take some pictures and send around. A noticeable feature, like on the clefts in this thread, was a good grain structure, but with an extra 'shadow' grain right close to each main grain. Must be something to do with the seasonal climate over there.

So very similar performance but not as good durability. Anybody know how the clefts vary in price in comparison to EW? Are we looking at half the price of EW?

No, small saving but nowhere near half. Hence why uptake hasn't been all that great.

So the accuser has come back to me with this picture as his "evidence". He says this is serbian willow and not English Willow. What do you guys say? Any serbian willow experts here?

Doesn't look like Serbian anyway, as far as you can tell from your pal's potato-vision photography. Just a cleft with heartwood. What a waste of time!
