niall - nope, they weren't odi's, they were either average list a matches, or 'unofficial ODI's', which are essentially unofficial matches, which don't count towards career averages. they also don't count as odi's. he has only scored 1 one day international ton, against australia.

So whilst qualifying for an ODI tournament (the WC) we weren't playing ODIs? lol thats silly anyways, i know your right :)

England only have 3 major problems, they can't bat, bowl or field

but if we work on that premise peplow, then a ton scored by (for example) KP against Jersey or Germany would be worth the same as a ton against Australia. I can see why it's done to be honest, but at the same time I see your point.

Not as much, you have to remember there is a far bigger gulf in standard between the top 10 cricket sides in the world and the 20-30th best sides, compared to football. I think I explained that right, for example Australia against Jersey is a far bigger gap in cricket than England against Ukraine in football. Football is widely played in more countries, almost every country has an FA, whereas only 90-100 have cricket boards, and only the top 30 of those get any real funding from their countries' budgets.

Yeah can see what you mean there...but its not too dis-similar. At the end of the day you still have to get 100 runs, its not a formality!! Its a tough one to call imo, can see both arguements.
