Reduced numbers might be a bit farcical. Reduced overs is pretty common if there are rain delays so I don't see an issue with that.

Slightly on a tangent, will any of the upcoming England matches be free to air? Monies a bit tight due to the virus and can’t really justify the subscription at this time.

I only ask because I saw that the premier league has made 35 games free to air.

No I believe the plan is for games to be shown as normal on Sky and the bbc will have highlights.
If sky were clever they would make a couple of the days available on fta via sky sports mix.

Ime, 10aside, 9aside, 8 aside  at a push still feels like the same game. Below that and I'd stop counting the game towards the stats, etc.

Similarly, 10 8-ball overs still just about has the same dynamics as a T20 but fits comfortably under 2 hours. Lower than that and it's a thrash and I wouldn't count the stats.

Thank you, guess I’ll stick with TMS :)

I was not too sure which thread to put this in but this is a good a place as any.

When it was announced that clubs could start to practice again our club was contacted by a photographer from Getty Images to get some proper village action of teams coming out of lockdown, getting on top of the pitch and safely practicing.

A lovely chap came down to the group to take photos of the cutting & rolling and a net session afterwards - I did not think too much of it other than we got some great photos to print out and put up in the pavilion.

Since then we've seen the club on the front page of the Bristol paper, featured on the ICC and the Cricketer magazine twitter feed... who knew that they actually use stock photos.

The comments are the best bit - mistaking our resident no11 (my son) for MSD, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson and insisting it's New Zealand

Some wag even suggested from my set up that I do not hit many on the off side... it's also true alas

If you are interested in arty shots of tractors & picturesque nets I can always post some pics

You mean that ICC photo you retweeted the other week wasn't Babar Azam having a hit at Dunedin? I could have sworn...

With the new ECB announcement about training in groups of 6, does this mean we can play training games out on the middle with 4 fielders, 1 bat, 1 bowler? Or would that violate the guidelines because fielders would all touch the same ball.

Yes it violates the rules, but it is OK for tennis players to play doubles and for them all to pick up the balls.
The guidance makes no sense.

Realistically who's going to stop you from doing that? Are people and clubs sticking to these guidelines so strictly? Cant see any harm in what you have mentioned whatsoever, a full practice wouldn't be a problem either if everyone applies common sense and distancing guidelines

Have to get it right because our pitch is on the public recreation ground with lots of people walking by who will be keeping an eye on us.

The ECB really are an absolute shower, my 5 year old could do better!

We are so far behind other sports it is beyond a joke. We are the summer national sport, the current sport that should be being played by youngsters, and there is simply no urgency to do anything. No guidance for the future, no planning, and they just don't have a clue.

Forget whether you think it is right to play now or not, there ability to communicate with grassroots is abysmal.

I give you Rugby's Return to Rugby Community Roadmap - this was out at the start of this week!

Grassroots football guidelines - out at the start of the week.

ECB’s more worried about the international game restarting rather than recreational cricket

Find it odd that tennis and rugby guidelines are ok with handling the same ball yet cricket is not.
As a club we’ll be starting on the square practice this weekend - hand sanitiser and wipes will be provided like we have done every net session so far

Neither of these guidelines is really clear about whether a ball can be shared within a group of 6. They just say equipment sharing should be kept to a minimum. I spose that means you can pass the ball around?

I don’t believe it’s sensible or safe to play but... the ECB guidance is slow and awful. Netting updates should have been released within hours of any knowledge of decisions etc. Even a guide to outline dates would please those who want to play games.

If they had a plan that said ‘if allowed to start on x we will do y’.. repeat for various scenarios .

Still.. keeper up, umpires.. how do you affect run outs (excluding direct hits), touching he ball ... all massive issues still with the virus around
