Bowling Offspin is SO MUCH EASIER
« on: August 09, 2020, 01:57:11 AM »

I've bowled terrible legspin since I was a kid, as a few on this forum can attest to  :(. After emigrating, I wanted to try to learn offspin bowling properly, because legspin isn't getting me anywhere and I'd like to be at least useful to batsmen in the nets.

Oh my god it is so much easier!? About four hours later and whilst I'm not great (and I have no facilities), it is so much easier to control line and length, and you can still rip it. I can use my two leggies as variation too... Just think, if I'd learned this ten years ago, I might have been decent!  ;) :D

Greatest respect to offspinners and their craft, of course. I'm just happy to be bowling decently!

On the flip side, it’s also much easier to get hit out of the park - especially if you play a high level. The challenge for offies is to get that big drift, dip and turn, at a decent pace... most amateurs lose that nice drifting, dipping shape if they try to bowl as quick as the international offies.

Best of luck !

Oh don't worry, I'll be hit out of the park plenty  :D :D

I've no idea how international offies bowl as fast as they do. It's incredible.
