Mo Amir omission from NZ tour
« on: November 18, 2020, 11:57:25 AM »

Wonder what people think about Mo Amir been omitted for the NZ tour? Based on merit, surely his one of the best 35 players available to Pakistan? So clearly the management are unhappy with him for non cricketing reasons?

He does get tired a lot. Four overs is a lot when you're made to stop before the crease these days.

Hmmm. He burst onto the scene and on his first tour here he was fantastic, it swings and that helped him-as it would any bowler.

Then seemed to fall out of favour and had a couple of injuries that set him back. I've watched enough of Pakistan bowlers over the years to know they can produce real pace and movement, but bowlers like Wasim and Waqar don't come along to often. They are the best two pace bowlers I've seen from Pakistan, I don't think Amir was going to be as good as those two, perhaps expectation was too high.....

Looking at the Pakistan attack that toured here this summer they don't need him, and I would expect him to fade out of the scene even more so.

I think it's fair to say for whatever the reasons were in my opinion his career started to go down after that infamous Lords test match.

He definitely should been in the squad but PCB are annoyed with him retiring from tests so are keeping him out.

When you've got Afridi, does Amir really have a point of difference over the other bowling options?

yeah it looks like its the test retirement which is going against him.
else i am certain his better than some of the other bowlers picked in the 35 man squad?
