I love my Aldred, whatever you think of him he knows how to make a bat. Not a fan of the new stickers, but if you buy equipment based on its appearance that’s up to you.
I also think a ‘dislike’ button might be a good idea or it may cause more antagonism, whichever, it might liven things up.

But he can make a darn fine bat! So when I can I will purchase one of the new shapes he previewed a few weeks ago and then remove the stickers - no issue then!

yeah they look terrible especially when most of the guys at my club buy bats due to the stickers most of the time

its a shame because you will have cricketers pass on you bats and gear purely on looks

His Spectre stickers were really good, and he makes a really good bat by all accounts. Maybe COVID means his designer isn't available or something.

There's a lot to like about "Aldo" and his level of engagement and straight talking on sensitive topics such as bat returns, rather than corporate marketing blah blah. I would buy one of his bats, for sure.

I do think though he has made a bad move with the G-N lookalike sticker set (it is the chequers that are the primary problem, not helped by the underlying colour scheme front and rear) and his defence of them on his FB page.

Surely anyone who knows anything about cricket equipment would shout "Gray-Nicolls" at them.

Am no expert but most sports brands investing at such a level for their exposure are very protective of their valuable IP and expect he has trod on some toes with G-N there.

I like Paul's bats a lot and his older stickers were really quite nice, but the combination of different typefaces used on the new ones is really jarring me for some reason, they just don't work IMHO.

As for the Gray Nicholls comparison it doesn't take a genius to work out where the inspiration must have come from!

At least the minimal ones look alright. And I think you can spec the minimal stickers with any bat...
