Forgot to mention that we were playing on the matting, which was tougher to bowl on, I was bowling from the sloop end, more important was match practice...

Are you interested telling what happened, then?

First time we’ve ever live streamed our game yesterday and our feedback was excellent. It looks very professional! Would recommend the company we dealt with any day!

Played another friendly today, against a team who have beaten us a lot in the league over the years before moving to a different league. In the past they’ve had no problem with bouncing kids, outright cheating and almost coming to blows over a game. They rocked up expecting another easy win.

However, those kids they used to bounce and cheat out of games are grown up now, and two of them hit 50 (Retired) as we racked up 220 inside 40. Personally came in with a few overs to go and hit a couple before being bowled.

We then had them 10-5 in reply and one of their middle order hit 50 to stop it being over very quickly (and their skipper told him not to retire as they wanted to win 👀) A 15-year old coming back to our club after a year away took 6-for in addition to his 50 as we beat them comfortably. Personally kept for the first time in 2 years. Took a catch & a stumping with a handful of byes.

Just goes to show that cheats don’t always prosper

Great first game of the season on Sunday. We got 212-7 off 40. I got 24, including some nice 4's square and through the covers. Then faced one of the worst overs possible; 3 wides and a double bouncer. Long hop followed, which I duly drilled down square legs throat.  😕

In their innings I nearly took a stunner at first slip early on. 1 handed above my head, parried it up but spilled the rebound as I landed. He went on to get a ton. They needed 60 odd of the last 15 with just 3 down. We got the lad next ball after his ton. I then came on to bowl, got 3 wickets and there were 2 run outs off my bowling. This saw them collapse and we managed to pull off a win by 26 runs.

Really enjoyable game against a great local team. Struggled to move today though. Feel like I've been hit by a car! 😬

you had a guy get 6 for and get a 50... in a friendly?  I mean... even bowling AND Batting or Batting AND Bowling is pretty weird in a friendly

Depends what you mean by friendly. If you just mean a non-league fixture as a pre season warm up then there's no reason it wouldn't be a properly competitive game.

Also, batting and bowling is weird in a friendly? Our midweek T20s we try to give everyone two overs and mix up the batting order so it doesn't seem very weird to me.

Yes mate it was a competitive non-league fixture. Ignore ProCricketer1982, i don't think i've ever seen him say anything positive about cricket on this forum in the 5+ years i've been here.

My back is a little sore but not too bad. Then again I'm very lazy when I keep in that i don't fully go into that squat position so my thighs don't receive the brunt of my weight!

Class to hear the young lad came back to your club and had a good game. Had he moved to a 'bigger' club for opportunities or was there another story behind it?

Pretty much that! He left to try a higher standard of cricket at the best club in the local area. He did pretty well over there but just didn’t enjoy it, think he also didn’t get along with the lads his age. They take it a bit more seriously whereas we all just hammer eachother and have a laugh.

He’s too good for this level but he wouldn’t be playing at all had his dad not agreed to come play for us as well.

Fair enough at that age. Always gutting when you lose players who've come up through your club but nice to hear he's come back and sounds like it'll be more enjoyable for the lad as well.
