We don't have enough strength in our batting to be favourites for the series,Stokes now out, no Stone, Archer won't be rushed back.india have enough in their pace and spin attack to cause us problems.

I've got it fairly even, An India win would not be a surprise at all

Don’t give India a sniff tbh. Their biggest weakness is their captain and his puppet Shastri. If they are stupid enough to select two spinners on a raging green tops during the WTC final what hope will they have over 5 tests?
Coupled with Kohli’s obsession with Bumrah who’s been dreadful in recent times
4-0 home win. Easy money

India really aren't that good, more especially in England with the moving ball. It'll come down to the odd batsmen having a good day out and probably turning the tide in a one off innings

England aren't that good either. I can see it being a close series.

I'd be happily surprised if England won this series. I hope it will be a very close, hard-fought series with some great moments! I want a Pope 200!

Under these conditions and with Stokes out, there may not be much diff in the batting between the two sides. Kohli at his best during last Eng tour still couldn't force a result in Ind favor, and current Kohli, Rahane and Pujara are all way below their peak. Not sure Vihari deserves his place at 6 either, he can block few balls and bat time but can hardly score. Test avg of 32 after 21 innings, this may be his last chance if he doesn't score.

Difference between the two sides is really the bowling. Eng have bowlers suited for the conditions, a little let off guard and Anderson and Broad will run amok.  Don't think Ind have the bowlers to exploit the swinging conditions. Not to mention bizarre selections of Kohli/Sastry like they did in WTC picking two spinners on green top, cloud conditions and rain washed out first day.

Another huge yet underrated advantage Eng have is a clearly better lower order batting. Last time Ind toured Eng, I felt Sam Curran did more to influence the final result than anyone else with the amount of runs he scored in the lower order. With his aggressive batting, he is just the right guy at the slot to take on the tired bowlers at that stage.

Eng 5-0 or 4-1 is my guess assuming no rain wash outs.

Where do people get the idea that the Indian bowling attack won't enjoy swinging and seaming pitches? Bumrah, Shami, Siraj and Ishant are all more than capable of exploiting conditions.

We saw that in WTC final or even during last Eng tour - their actual performance under these conditions, so no need to second guess. Yes they ll pick more wickets than in the subcontinent, but not enough to run through top quality sides.

WTC final they got their attack wrong with the double spinners. Doubt they'll make that mistake again. Add in Siraj and their attack looks very dangerous to me.

Agree with 4-0, however that's more likely to be in the Indians favour.

England need scoreboard pressure to win against India, if it's dry we don't have outstanding spinners, Leach is good and probably our best. Dom Bess is a mixed bag of good and very average. If it seams  they have good bowlers to exploit the conditions. shami is excellent and they have 3 other good ones.

Stokes is probably our second best batsman and out of every game, we just will not put enough runs on the board. Root is carrying our batting and has done for ages.

5-0 or 4-0 I just cannot believe anyone is seriously predicting that score, where are we getting the runs from to put 350 or even 400 on the board?

Apart from Root who are our bankers to get a hundred? I'd love to hear it  :)

Now, that is interesting. If we are seeing similar predictions like 4-0 but differing in opinion as to the winner, then it sure gonna be an interesting series. Maybe the weaknesses the two teams have makes it very attractive.

I think in home conditions the Burns, Sibleys, Crawleys, Lawrences will come good just like the Dhawans and Murali Vijays  in Ind conditions though their place in the side might always be up for debate. Not to mention the man I would still pick to
make the diff with both bat and ball -- Sam Curran. Then there are Butler and Bairstow - expect at least one of them to make an impact. If both of them come good, then Eng will strike gold.

Not having Stokes makes such a huge difference to the effect of even swaying who wins this series.

Now only being such a good player, but he completely unbalances the England side as was shown in the NZ series. Does Pope and Buttler now have to bat a spot higher to get in an extra AR to cover Stokes overs? Or a straight batter in at 5 like Lawrence?

I brings in alot of options and questions for the side.
