Butler has been red hot in the IPL, but we have been here before with different formats.
McCullum seems to be keen for players to play their natural game. I think we should have a specialist keeper who can bat well-Foakes.
But having watched Butler in Tests he definatley tried to bat test match style. Maybe he gets a free role in the new set up.
As a few of us have said thou, runs on flat decks in the IPL are not the same as the moving red ball in England.
For me not much has changed, it’s very very difficult to slap quality bowlers around in our conditions.
Players who can are very rare.
Of course the opposite view is you can get another bowler into the team, or batsman.
I think Foakes is a better test match batsman than Butler and Jos had quite a few matches.
But we will see I guess
