If he can last the test he’s a good asset, seems to get movement and is consistent.

Crawley gets another chance, I’d rather too many than too few but you do wonder if he has the game at the moment for test matches.

He is centrally contracted I believe.

If you picked a replacement for Crawley based on form this summer, Keaton Jennings would be the form pick but his record against seam is ordinary and this South Africa attack wouldn't be the obvious one you would throw him in against. Otherwise, those who have had a go before who might be hopeful of a recall haven't been pulling up any trees this summer

South Africa are batting first.

Always going to bat once they picked 2 spinners.

Interesting team selection, can only think the pitch is very dry because it looks overcast and ideal bowling conditions.

Great start for England. South Africa looking seriously light on batting

The first favour Test cricket could do is play the allotted overs.
Went to day 2 at Lords chuffed that 97 overs promised. 7pm later and just about managed the 90 overs. Absolute gits! During a rail strike too. I’m fed of paying £100 every year and not getting 100 overs like a ODI potentially. They can play to 9pm as far as I’m concerned to teach them a lesson.

England bowled pretty well from what I saw earlier. South Africa going in with 6 front line batsmen is a bit optimistic.

England aren’t going to be a top side until they solve the top 3. Arguably three of the worse players I’ve ever seen.

Having watched England in the 90s, this top 3 is a long way from the worst 3 players I have seen

Nope I’ve been watching before that we are no where near as bad now for the top 3

I know Zak is lucky to be in this side but I’m very pleased he lasted out there and comes back tommorow.

Not sure he will be good enough to last but it’s a start at least.

Lees…..well started out ok but now not convinced. Having seen some highlights the ball is doing a bit and against quality bowling it’s tough

Is Jensen really missing this test to play in the sixty?
