Any reason you're spiking trainers rather than buying a pair designed/made to be spiked from the outset?

One of the newer trainer spikers, popular on Instagram with the pro�s, won�t spike trainers sent to him.
I asked if I could send him my gym trainers (�55 on adidas same as what Stokes wore last summer) but he only sells the same model at �120 fully spiked.

It's harder to find a really good price on the spiking these days admittedly, but I've had a few pairs custom spiked now and always paid less in total than I spent on my previous set of actual cricket spikes.

Is there any spiking companies in the UK that stitch the soles on as well, as a fast bowler the last pair I had from the shoe doctor the spikes in the heel ripped out the first game I used them.

Was quoted for the Nike Vaspour Lites last year. in the sale for �55 I think, thought they would make nice spikes. Asked a spiker how much to spike em, was quoted �65 + pp. Advised he had the same ones in stock already spiked too, wanted �130

Ouch. Cheshire Shoe Repairs sadly aren't as cheap as they used to be, but are �55 inc return postage. RRP on most top end spikes is over �120 these days so custom is at least competitive.

used Nike Court Vapour Lites last year,bought shoe from Pro Direct and Bill and Brenda spiked for me...all rounder,bowl leggies and bat middle order and can highly recommend,Tennis shoes good option to spike up...think whole process cost me less than �100,which is competitive looking at costs out there

I managed to pick up a pair of the Nike spikes (the ones with the blue and orange detailing that a few of the England lads wear) last year for �100 inc delivery from India. They�re excellent, would recommend. Think availability can be a bit sporadic - if anyone�s interested I can try my contact to see if he can still get any 👍🏻

You are better off converting tennis trainers into cricket spikes in my opinion, more comfortable and durable.

Brian and Brenda are probably the cheapest convertors of trainers into spikes in the country for around �35-�40 and considering their experience and previous clientele dating back to the 1980's, due to their age (Brian is in his 80s), their quality of workmanship has slightly deteriorated especially after the Nike Court Vapor Lite they did for me last season.

Though Cheshire Shoe Repairs charge that, there are other companies like Shoe Sheriff (�65) and Spike By Mike (�69.99) who charge more, but at the end of the day, it is part of their business model. A lot of cricket companies (AOB Custom Kicks, Cobra Cricket, The Crick3t Lab, Vulcan Cricket) are now selling their own range of pre spiked cricket trainers; personally I think converting trainers into spikes is better than buying actual cricket spikes due to comfortability, durability and weight; some spikes are too bulky and heavy but I have not used actual cricket spikes for years.
