Eng just edging it at lunch. Cracking afternoon lined up.

Ali and Bairstow go for next test. Bring in Foakes 🙏

Maybe that's game over then - not sure Brook can bat with the tail

YJB has been so poor this series.

He had an amazing year last year, but he clearly needed more time off from his injury or something. I don't see anything he contributed this series that Foakes wouldn't have been better at.

Bairstow has looked slow between the wickets as well, not convinced he is back to full fitness at all.

Bairstow has poor footwork and the wrong build completely, the chances missed have cost us no doubt.

But coming back from a broken leg after months out when your best year was without the gloves is a hell of an ask to do.

So it was odds against from the beginning.

On another note Woakes is so bloody good - like that Pakistan chase at Old Trafford in 2020, every now and then just manages the situation really well

Woakes is every bit as much a genuine all-rounder as Stokes IMO. Just a shame he's never really seemed to crack it overseas.

Far worse bat but a far better bowler

Yep. Stokes very much a batting all-rounder, Woakes a bowling all-rounder.

He seemed to do a pretty decent job all things considered!

He did, and with a calm head at the other end in Woakes managed it very, very well.. Just needs to put the daft shot away!

My Old Trafford tickets are live, thank God

Feels like my Lords review was pretty solid.

For headingly tomorrow...
I think Eng are looking better in terms of the balance of the team. Great to see Wood playing.

I think England will win this one. More varied bowling, I also think the Aussie attack is going to be tired.

Boland will play probably for Josh Hazelwood I suspect.

England really need to keep the Aussies fielding for more than 2 and a half sessions though.

The big problem with batting as fast as they do is the oppo bowlers aren't that tired in the second dig where as our bowlers get no rest...

Humm... Old Trafford next, role on Anderson's last test...

Eng got a lot right in the game.

What would be good is instead of playing golf every day, perhaps if they spent the time doing catching practice it will make thing better for us.
