Played one test in the following series in 2021, got a fifty. Recollections may vary ;) Don't disagree that he's not a candidate for 3, but in a world without Stokes he'd have a long career at 7.

Australian team balance tomorrow very interesting I think, always a big risk going without a spinner. It'll look a shocking call if a pacer goes down injured.

Thought this earlier, looked especially good because of how poor a position he got into. Spectacular recovery but a better keeper doesn't get that wrong footed.

However if he hadn’t been wrong footed/in the wrong place it may have been a much harder chance being unable to go with a fully outstretched arm.

I’m a big Foakes fan but says a lot how pleased the rest were for him.

That said his keeping was otherwise pretty shoddy again, hopefully a bit of confidence helps.

Poor Bairstow. Even when he does something decent it's still sh!te in the eyes of the forum! 😂 Didn't see much today actually, but saw him drop a few which were wobbling about early doors. Not uncommon in English conditions. Did he miss any chances?

Decent enough day for England and the game, if they can finish it off relatively quickly in the morning. If the weather holds it could be another interesting test.
