First test at Trent bridge starts today.

Should be an good contest. The Aussies start as massive favourites tough. They are an all time great side.

England have gone with a pretty experienced side (in terms of internationals).

Shows the fickle nature of women's test cricket when Alice Davidson-Richards doesn't get picked despite scoring a ton and taking wickets in the last game they played.

Danni Wyatt plays instead, who is a more attacking player.

Also no Issy Wong, they have gone with Lauren Filer who is apparently quite sharp.

Shame Wong isn't playing, would have been interesting if they'd gone with two genuine quicks.

That was the plumbist "not out" I remember seeing. I think Haweye was wrong there.

Eng aren't bowling that well in my view. Possibly a bit nervous early on.

Ecclestone is going to bowl about 40 overs today I suspect.

Have to agree on the Hawkeye, don't think it has tracked the deviation after pitching properly.

Definitely seen Cross and Ecclestone bowl better. Difficult to say with Filer as she's so inexperienced, decent pace but not express compared to Bell/Cross yet and has bowled a few wayward ones.

Everytime I see Sophie Ecclestone bowling I always wonder how she would fare against a mens' test side. With the excellent lines she bowls and more importantly the pace she bowls at (most women intl spinners are very loopy and slow in the air from what I have seen) I think she could definitely be a handful against any team.

She seems to bowl high 40s/50mph largely, as I recall that was the pace that everyone said made Matt Parkinson too slow for men's test cricket, and that's not considering that Parkinson turns the ball a lot more (as you'd expect from a leggie). She's very good but I don't see it.

Agreed mopping up the tail for 0 runs was a great performance.

Loosing 5 wickets this evening has bust the chase sadly.
Going to need something special tomorrow from our lower order and tail.

We don't live far from Trent Bridge, and given the weather yesterday, we decided to take our 2 year old son for a few hours. Feel incredibly fortunate to be able to just decide on a whim to rock up. It was only his second live match there (he went to a day of County Championship last year with me to watch a teammate play, but he was not even a year old at the time so was much easier to manage/entertain, haha).

But he loved yesterday. They had face painting, balloon animals, sign making etc. in the concourse. Plenty of children there with families. Overall, a great day. It's a shame there weren't a few more there to support the women, since they bowled incredibly well yesterday.

Her big advantages in the women's game are the extra pace at which she bowls and bounce she gets with her height. In the mens game, the pace at which she bowls would be on the slow side for a spinner and she would be no taller than the average
