Chase Value Bats?

Hi guys,

My local cricket retailer has received a shipment of Chase Value Bats priced at £125.

I was quite intrigued to understand what these exactly were so headed on down for a squiz.

Generally, as expected, willow grading was low and I presume there were knots, staining, squint grains and butterfly.... it was really hard to tell from the front at least as they had wallpaper with striking grains on them ha ha!

I waded through them and found this one which caught my eye. A nice 11 grains, quite straight down the back, straight through the toe, butterfly on the back and picked up beautifully light at 2.9.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this might be the star of the show in the bats received, but I guess you can never tell until it's knocked in and taken out to battle.

What are your thoughts?

There is a thread on these bats as I went to Chase when they started advertising them.
Mine is brilliant... I would be tempted to remove the grain sheet on that bat...

I got a butterfly off Ben @BT Blades for not alot more, not really a looker but flys.. Pays yer money, takes yer choice!

How much does he sell his butterflies for?

Would definitely recommend a Chase R1 as a value bat, got one for our club bag a few years ago and still a serious goer.

Interesting, can't believe these may only have been £65 a few years ago, there's (100%) inflation for you right there!

I also would be steaming that wallpaper off if I bought it. I'm quite tempted to, as it could be a cracker, but I was on a mission looking for a friend. It's been put aside anyway so it gives me a chance to have a think.

The Chase bats do look nice, but I really just don't like the look of that profile with the sharp spine running deep into the toe and the high amount of concaving. I prefer a fuller profile at least aesthetically anyway!

Did buy a bag off Ben too so might have got a discount, but approx 150

To be fair this was a Christmas sale, they were £100 other than that, basically Dan had loads of r1s to get shot of.
Mine is still in my bag!

They do sell some R1s in the Volante shape which is fuller, think a lot of them are the very concaved Finback shape though.

I've had a bunch of R1 clefts off Chase as part mades, they're kind enough to pick out nice ones for me but they've all been very good. Mostly butterfly, have had a few that were lovely but with a lot of speck. Big fan of their pressing and handles so the low grade bats are a great option.
