Australia V Pakistan
« on: December 15, 2023, 09:28:23 AM »

Been watching a bit of this on the box, don't usually have time to watch much cricket these days.
Aussies big favourites for this series, with Shan Masood's first series as Pakistan captain. I've been impressed by the two new quicks in the Pakistan side.

Anyone else see them, thoughts?

They are pretty decent bowlers but only in mid 130s speed. It would be better if they can gain speed and hit at lease mid 140s.

The Pakistani rookies did a good job. Both showed big hearts. Might only be medium pacers but that’s ok at Perth but the next test in Melbourne will be tougher

The main issue for Pakistan is their supposed “superstars” Azam and Afridi are just stat padders.

Those two need to go and play a season of county cricket.

Interestingly poised game here for the Aussies. Although I would say Warner will come out hard tonight.

Can't believe Shaheen has been rested for the 5 t20s. Madness.

Jamal looks like some find for Pakistan mind. Tidy bowler and looks well capable of batting at least number 8.

Wasim's and Waqar's comments were interesting on Pakistan's selection approach. Wasim: "T20, who cares?"

Aussie doing their best to keep test cricket alive with a run rate of 2.46
Lots of empty seats again.

So, rather unexpectedly, Steven Smith says he wants to move up to open after Warner retires. Didn’t see that coming…

Really odd this, probably to deflect from his horrific dismissal today and his marginally declining form.

The new Aussie opener thing has been rumbling on for ages.

Under normal circumstances Bancroft would get the next go, but I don't see that happening.
The idea that Cameron Green could open the batting is a but nuts too, he goes harder at the ball that Shane Watson did.
