Great batting by Elgar but what is going on? India in all sorts of trouble.

Kohli is still such a treat to watch. One of most consistent players of all time. He sort of remind me of Kumar Sangakarra, he kept getting better and better as he aged.

India’s bowling is so dross aside from Bumrah(that lad is top draw).
If the home side ditches their spinner, whom is pretty good, for an extra batsman.
Why on earth are the touring side picking Ashwin and more stupidly deeming him good enough to bat 7?
On a pitch doing all sorts Siraj, thr debutant and Thakur could hardly bowl two good deliveries in a row.

Elgar was outstanding. As was the masterful Rabada. Their debutant Berger looks a good find as well.

All this after Bavuma pulled a hammy.

Incredible trashing

Solid come back from the Indians this am.
Good toss to loose for Rohit.
Siraj has been magnificent.

South Africans seemingly overconfident or just don’t rate India.
How can you replace Petersen a top order batsman for Maharaj?

Maybe the team they're sending out to New Zealand is the stronger side after all

Lots going on in our team WhatsApp today pointing out that even our 2s can scrape to 55/10. However I think Siraj is a smidge better bowler than the 13 year old leggie who would run through our middle order.

Classic judgement from Allan Lamb:

"There been plenty said about all the wickets falling in Newlands between #SA vs #India personally having watched the highlights it looked like very poor batting and average bowling."

Combined with Ravi Shastri's dump comment:

https://wisden.com/series-stories/south-africa-v-india-2023-24/hilarious-ravi-shastri-went-for-a-dump-commentary-quip-goes-viral-after-record-india-collapse

Classic day.

The pitch is garbage. When a medium pacer like Mukush is getting the ball to rear up like he’s prime Curtly Ambrose indicates this.

So the South Africans couldn’t play a 3 match series due to a clash with their t20 franchise competition.

Test 1: 3 days
Test 2: 5 sessions

Could squeezed in another match with 5.5 days unused…

Hypothetically a two match test series is a minimum of 900 overs.

This series will conclude in under 350 overs…
