What would be the most valuable bat in cricket?
« on: January 04, 2024, 07:57:03 PM »

Have just seen a prototype of a Tiger Woods putter go on sale for £120,000. https://epicscottys.com/collections/frontpage/products/made-for-tiger-woods-scotydale-prototype-welded-long-neck-1996-1997

It made me ask the question, what would be the most valuable bat in cricket history?

Tendulkar's Adidas bat held together with tape at the end. Dhoni's world cup winning bat?

Beefies 1981 Ashes Duncan Fernley?

What is it was KPs woodworm from the 2005 Ashes?

Prob the last Screaming Cat Julian made if eBay is anything to go by and the lad with 3 of them listed at £150k!

Had one of KP’s woodworms complete with red bull sticker in for a return as David Graveney’s son got given one by him a while back. I’m sure I put a few pics on here but this is going back to pre 2016 as was still in the old office then.

Most valuable in terms of money may well be a modern bat the way prices are going up  :)

I would think thou knowing the vast sums Indian supporters pay to follow the team the Sachin bat or maybe a Kholi bat would fact the most in an auction.

Valued a different way could be a Bradman bat from an Ashes tour.

I do not know but I would guess the Dons bats were donated to a cricket museum in OZ and therefore not for sale.

Would have to figure it'd be an Indian players' bat or something Bradman - Sachin's highest test score bat or something along those lines!

Chris Martin's bat would be good value for money - it'd be as clean as a whistle!

One of Sachin's went for $95,000 (42 lakh INR at the time) back in 2010. I'd imagine the bat he scored 200 with would go for more, the one Bradman used to get 300 went for $175k a few years back.

So probably close between the two for which would fetch the record.

Who wants to use a bat with a hole in the middle?

I played against that bat and Graveneys son a few years back when my club played against the MCC. Interesting fact, I faced the last ball that David Graveney would ever bowl in any format of cricket

Ah no way, think he kept the woodworm stickers on it from memory but it needed some TLC to get it back to life as had a huge crack in it.

I'd imagine the one which Albert Trott used to hit the six over the Lords Pavillion might be a contender! My guess would be the Tendulkar bat which was pretty much in splinters would probably fetch the most though - given how crazy the market is in India, and how the consumer base there has driven up the cost of bats 😅
