Finished last season being dropped to the 2s and got back to back tons, 133* and 106. Started this season, again in the 2s, with 43* and 70. Really couldn't have gone much better! Last 3 games I've have got out to the pull shot, which is usually a strength, with a couple of low scores.
As a team we've started really well. 1 cancelled and 3 wins, including a win against the then top team. Chasing 156 we slumped to 93-7, but the tail dug in and got us home with 9 down. Last Saturday we lost a very close game. Got off to a flyer with 50-0 off 5. Then both openers, including myself got out. Reached 100-2, before collapsing to 173 all out with nearly 15 over to spare. Opposition mirrored our innings, although somewhat slower. Got to 100 odd for 2, before a collapse and being 140-8. Went to the last over, before a huge 6 got the opposition home with 3 balls to spare. Despite this we have actually moved up to joint first in the league table, due to all the other top teams losing too.
It's been nicer this year that we have a lot of evenly matched teams in our league. The last few seasons there has always been a rogue team that was far too good and hammered everyone else out of site.
