Strong Surrey Strong England

This Windies batting lineup is garbage

Without wishing to be mean, Surrey's (full) 2nd XI would probably beat this West Indies team.

Especially with Gus in it.

Pope pads look good there the Tempesta colour way but seem to be knee roll of shockwave ?

I also liked the look of the new helmet Anderson rocked in the Nets

Future is bright with Atkinson and others in line to step up! Was superb today, kept it simple and kept it quick. Good to see Pope a bit more positive and less frenetic as he started.

Test Cricket needs a 2 division system. One sided test matches are doing more harm than good to a format which is already dying in most countries.

Which of these teams are you suggesting should be in the 2nd tier?

At what point does county cricket become stronger than test cricket?

When all the best internationals play in it, atm it's just the best batters that come over for small stints.

England are bottom of the world championship rankings, (thanks to 19points in deductions) so I really don't think this will help.

The reality is that the Windies haven't played enough warm up games. The same as many other tours.
But there isn't room in the calendar for everything.

West Indian bowling is not too bad generally. They have proved they can bowl well against other teams, especially AJ.
But as Buzz said, they look a bit rusty and need more warm-up games.

Batting is where they seem to struggle in Tests to be fair.

Windies discipline with the ball wasn't good enough really, far too many hit me balls. Definitely in part due to rust, but equally I would say a consequence of players tailoring their skillset to short form cricket.

Test cricket in the main is a loss making exercise unless India, England or Australia is involved. Moving to a 2-tier system would kill off test cricket entirely in a number of countries

To be fair, their one warm up game will have ben pretty dispiriting, their attack being flogged by Will Luxton who, despite being a really great prospect, is nowhere near Yorkshire's best XI.  Having watched some of the footage, it did not seem to me that they were taking it all that seriously.
