Some of these shots are going to look a bit daft if Root ends up stranded on 95...

Fortunately that didn't happen and Root cemented his Goat status.
He just needs to fund a way to have a 500 plus run Ashes series in Aus...

Atkinson does it again. Extraordinary record at Lords he has.
. Oh and Alex being mischievous.

Josh Hull - could this be the most left-field punt of McCullum / stokes yet? They've done well so far with Bashir, Atkinson, Hartley, smith etc.

I hope this lad shines, as callow as he is, it would be great to have a bouncy left-hander around.

Mind you, don't think he'll be doing much bowling tomorrow.

Love this from Baz:

"Josh Hull? Six foot heaps, bowls left-arm, ranges in pace from 80 to 90 miles an hour. Swings it, not too dissimilar to the likes of Jimmy Anderson. He's 20 years of age … good farming stock. It's not a huge gamble, is it?"

Kind of agree with this. 6'7 left ar4m quick bowler who can swing it. Not the worst gamble.
But would have also preferred a change at the top of the batting too! Get a young opening batsman in to try out. Series is won and DL not doing well.
So get a Finlay Bean or Ben McKinney in as a young prospect?

Bean definitely fits the type of player they seem to like, although feels harsh on Lawrence. Jennings probably unlucky not to get a crack, but you know that Crawley is right back in regardless of what his replacement does.

Jennings would have been a decent shout.
I guess the only thing against Bean or McKinney is that they are both lefties, same as Duckett!
And none of these 3 could do worse than Lawrence is doing at the moment! I suspect Lawrence is going through a poor form patch!

As harsh as asking a guy who predominantly bats six in county cricket to open in Tests?

Though it probably isn't the time to promote Bean; he has made a couple of big scores this year, but otherwise looked a bit short of form (indeed, he was dropped early on in both big knocks).

Emilio Gay.

My mate (who's much fatter than me) got him out in club cricket the other week, not sure the next natural step after that is to open in a test at the oval.
