Throwing out a question to the forum.
Are there a minimum set of measurements which could be put together to accurately describe the shape of a bat with actual measurements, rather than just subjective low-mid-high sweetspot, offset middle, weight, blade length, degree of concaving, so that you could describe your favourite bat shape, or a pro's requirements taken from a bat they had previously used? To almost build up a database of shapes/bats as a reference. For example, having the details for a Trott, Root, Warner, Kohli, Tendulkar bat shapes, so if you wanted to try and replicate, you would have the relevant absolute measurements (even if I may not have the skill to make it!!).
I guess you could take shoulder thicknesses (at edge and splice), toe edge and mid thickness, mm from toe to max swell, mm from toe to max edge point, a way to measure concavity/convexity (are they real words??), weight and balance point from the toe (will be affected by handle type, so will need measurements for handles, degree of ovalness at top and bottom, and no. of grips/binding/tape/counter balance weight). Might need other measurements to describe things like duckbill toe, etc?
Would be interested to see what poeple think, and if anyone can give an example of one of their "special" bats (be it ex-pro, or their current fav), to see what would be the min dataset to describe their bat accurately.
