if you are a middling club player................. you can now get a previous season signature (G2) grade bat for £130 at more than one online retailer. i don't see why you'd bother buying any of these. unless of course you have a bat collection problem/obsession .................oh yes, silly me - forgot where i was

The majority are "narrowed" these days from the big brands, especially the ones with more imposing profiles. We complain about it now, but there were also sub 108mm bats back in the day, just that since it's been brought to light, it seems more prevalent. If it's not acceptable, plenty of custom makers who you can specify that you want bats at 108mm width. I'm sure many could do them at the same profile too. The Mana and the Diamond seemed to be about 107-108mm generally, but the other profiles that just look larger tended to be flat faced and slightly narrower. Every ounce matters in online retail, so little changes here and there will allow for a more attractive offering for the retailer/consumer. (Low weights and larger profiles)

Picked up this Psyche form @Six Sixes Cricket awaiting it’s arrival. No idea on it’s weight etc but sure will be fine

And also picked up this new Mana Signature from a popular action site from a small retailer. I’ve had plenty of GM’s and this is certainly one of the best out the wrapper. Doubt they will sell much use these days apart from the odd bet but nice to add to my GM collection. This one is 2.10.5 with its light grip added a Enkay Chevron so probably 2.11 now and feels nice. Still the best handles on the market

I think the psyche stickers look absolutely terrible. Perhaps I’m just getting old.

Shapes are okay and that’s what matters I suppose. And still think they offer good value in the mainstream brands. An icon 808 is still one of my best ever owned.

Psyche model arrived today but will be going back. 104mm width which I know some can accept but personally I just can’t. Must say been a GM fan for years but what started with the Aion last year is now possibly a trend across the range. Not seen a Verve yet so can’t comment on the other ranges but for me it’s really disappointing that the GM’s have just followed suit with the narrowing tricks just to achieve retail desired scale weights.

Mana is 108width which is in the 2024 range so if like me width is important looks like that is suitable.

‘Delta’, but they aren’t listed as being thinner, but with lower edge and spine height.

They won't catch us this time! Not this time! They haven't spotted us! No, they're all snoring in their bunks! Or, you know what? They're drinking at the bar, celebrating our sinking! Not yet, my friends. Not yet!

Wow in that case not good

Not saying it’s ok but I keep seeing some videos online where they keep showing how pros use 103 mm bats but this is more the Indian pros .

Seemed to justify it if they can why can’t you argument ..

Dont agree with it ..

Hate to be the broken record, but this is consumer driven. Demand big bats at light weights and talk specs first, all else second and this is the result. Either accept smaller bats at full width are just as good, or get to the gym and use an Oz or two heavier so you get a bigger bat at full width. Or pay mega bucks for a 'low density' cleft. Or just work harder, get better in terms of skill level and apply yourself, then you'll score more runs. No bat is gonna do that for you.

As for talk of Pro's using 103mm bats. Of course there will be some using narrower bats, but they probably didn't realise they were at first. Can a lesser cricketer use them effectively with no issues? Of course they can. But if you expect a full width bat when buying one and get one which is 5mm or 6mm narrower without knowing, is that right? Not imo. That said, there's no law saying a bat has to be 108mm in width either.
