Talisman - I know you've owned tons of bats and value your opinion on them - what other batmakers have you used to compare Mr keeley to? Kranzbuhler? Laver? Millichamp?

My 5, in no particular order would be:

1) Laver Signature
2) Stuart Kranzbuhler custom
3) Julian Millichamp custom
4) Tim Keeley custom
5) Talisman special Laminate

My current Laver is the best bat I've ever owned - the next 3 are just based on reputation from the forums, and the last one is just curiosity.

I'd have to go to his workshop in person to select willow and discuss specs for all of these, so some nice overseas trips involved there!

who are these people i have neverr heard of them???

Laver - http://www.laverwood.co.nz/
Stuart Kranzbuhler - Australian based batmaker for Gray Nics - http://www.gray-nicolls.co.uk/
Julian Millichamp, formally of Millichamp and Hall, now set up in Aus with his own company - http://www.screamingcat.com.au/
Tim Keeley - Head batmaker at Newbery - http://www.newbery.co.uk/
Talisman Laminates - God knows where these get made, but they sure as hell play well, my number one bat for the season

Hope this helps cricket boy -

1) Newbery Pros bat
2) Tip Top Screaming Cat
3) Reback Limited Edition Custom
4) Tailsmen perfect storm ( one of those crazy light clefts)
5) I would have to have something Asian to complete the collection

"I would have to have something Asian to complete the collection"
you and a few others I suspect

I'd quite like...
a top salix bat
a top newbury bat
a top Redback
a custom SS as my "something Asain"
a bat I made...

the final one would be the most expensive, as I would have to spend years learning how to make a bat to the appropriate Laver/Millichamp standard - as that isn't going to happen, I will go for the Screaming Cat.

Talisman Laminates - God knows where these get made, but they sure as hell play well, my number one bat for the season

....of course I'm sure you'll only use said bat for practice and exhibition type matches, and not for any competitive cricket....

Well if ponting got away with it all summer under the scrutiny of the worlds press, then i count myself unlucky to be caught out by the only umpire in the league who has the ability to see 22 yards and detect a hidden lamination - i'd even buy him a pint :)

Have you got any proof that Ponting's bat was laminated?

None whatsoever ashvir - just word of mouth from a batmaker that is all. I cannot provide you with photographic evidence, nor can i show you pictures revelaing a lamination, in fact you i could be completely bullshitting you :)

Anyway- we digress and this would put me in Fattus's bad books, and trust me thats the last place you want to be......the mans got a mean streak a mile wide!!!!
My top 5 bats would be....
1) Laver - replica of St8bats, perfect bat for me.
2) Screaming Cat - Would ask for a super light cleft and let him go mad and creative with it!
3) Newbery from Mr.Keeley - A sachin profile.
4) A Xiphos shape from Kransbuhler
5) Would be rude not to try a Monster from H4L with one of those super tight grainers - yes plase!
