Anyone else think that Eoin Morgan would be better off playing champoinship cricket in England than opening the batting/batting at 7 in the IPL?
I think his talent is phenominal but he is wrong to chase the bucks at the moment and should be trying harder to get in the test side, but then I am just a grumpy old wotsit who likes old school cricket

20-20 cricket used to be just for fun, but now it is wayyyyyyyy too serious and is taking players away from the main form of the game.

I agree, however you've got to think about their view of it - they're getting a huge paypacket from it for a bit of fun.

As good as Morgan is, I think for the time being he is more likely to be effective for England as a one day player - therefore, I think experience in the IPL is good (though I haven't been watching it this year, so can't comment on the standard this year)

If cricket was my job, I'd be going for the dosh. I would never miss a test match or international game for an IPL match, but if I had the choice of mega bucks in hot weather, or not as much money in damp April/May in England.... I know where I would go!
Not saying it's a good thing, but it's definitely what I would do. It's the same in my own job, if my boss said I would be getting paid more money for doing the same job, I would definitely do it.

I'm not saying I wouldn't do it either, but I don't like how it went from being just for fun, to being pretty serious and is taking players away from long form of the game.
