thanks tom havent managed to get to the bottom of the mystery but seems to have now been solved......perhaps more will follow if troughton took a blow to the head in another brand of lid??

Troughton was using Albion, Tino Best bounced him and I think it went between the visor/grille gap.

bad times.....this is why the BSI recommend setting of between 45-55mm only and as such should be adhered to in order to avoid the ball fitting between them, obviously when the ball hit the peak  material may flex as well causing it to even even further!

Even if they are unbranded it's pretty easy to recognise it as one of ours due to the unique design which was another reason behind it :) haven't as yet but would be good to get a few on board!
