BAT 3 - My attempt at batmaking (with help from Andy at SAF)Would like to think that this was all my work, but without Andy's help, it would have turned out very differently!
It weighs in at a beefy 2'14, and my aim was to ensure that rather than having massive edges, I wanted to take wood from the edges and deposit it in the blade itself.
The meat of the bat is long and wide to ensure maximum power with each stroke.
Andy had his input with his offset edges and perfect balancing - the guy is a Podshaving Guru!!
And I added some lovely Ayrtek bat stickers - and it is going to be an absolute gun of a bat!!
It's Grade 2/3 willow with a couple of blemishes and straight grains to make it look respectable. But what it lacks in not having perfect blemish-free grains, it will more than make up for in performance. The mallet test feels awesome, and I know that Andy's input has ensured that I will have a blaster!!
I know it's not to my normal Grade 1 fine English Willow cosmetically, but it's a one-off!
