How often do you replace a bat?
« on: May 19, 2008, 04:49:47 PM »

This is mainly aimed at people who own top end bats, not lower end stuff that's supposed to be durable. How long do you normally have them for? I have a GM Cannon Original from 8 years ago - it's had a couple of re-furbs but still in tact (though doesn't seem to ping as much as it used to) - I used this as my first choice bat for 5 seasons and still keep it in the bag. Since then I've had 3 more bats, which I've tended to replace as I wasn't getting on with them so well, as opposed to because they actually needed replacing. So how long do peeps here tend to use a top end bat for?

Does anyone have examples of a pro using a particular bat long term?

I mostly use a bat until it breaks...although i did sell my newbery Uzi to a mate for half of what i got it for a year later as i saw a beauty of a redback that i wanted!

Unfortunately, I get a new bat whenever I feel a strong urge and I'm in pocket! However, I'll only replace a bat once it either breaks or scores around 500 runs - I prefer light-pressed bats so they're usually battered by this point!

Until i grow out of it or until it breaks. Usually about 1.5 to 2 seasons usually.

but if you scored a massive amount of runs with a certain bat wouldn't you want to keep it longer?

I can't remember the exact stats but my 2nd season using the Cannon I scored around 650 runs - prob my best season to date - as I say, the bat's still going

On average one every season, unless it breaks or is still pinging I would keep it.

People like chanderpaul and ramprakash always look like they have really old bats!

Kieth Parsons used a M and H bat for 6 years straight!
