New Redback Cricket bat

Redback Review

I have recently just purchased  a new Redback cricket bat. I has seen this company been discussed a fair bit and I really wanted to try one out. I emailed Gary to start with and enquiry about what he had in. Very prompt with his reply we got discussing about what he could do. He sent me some pictures of clefts and I choose one out of 4, not the easiest as they all looked very nice clefts. I had asked for the top grade willow (£165) but in the Surefire profile.

Service

As I said he was very quick in reply with emails and we soon got discussing what Gary could make for me. He was always quick with the replies and extremely helpful. As I wanted my bat to be as perfect as it could be I had sent him a fair few emails which were always replied to with answers and information I needed. Within a matter of days I was happy with what was on offer and sent a cheque of to him. The service was excellent throughout, Gary kept me updated with everything that was going on.

Specs

- Top grade willow with Surefire Profile
- Around 2.9/2.10 weight with nice pick up
- Evenly weighted (wasn’t really to bothered about edge size)
- Slight bow
- Low-mid middle

Once received

I received the bat earlier today and was extremely happy with what I got. The bat cosmetically looks brilliant with 11 ruler straight grains. The edges in the middle are about 20mm, not the biggest but as I said previously I wasn’t really too bothered about the edge sizes. I quickly got the bat mallet and starting tapping away. Was very happy with what I saw and heard! The ‘ping’ seemed to be very good and the sound of the bat was excellent. Cannot say about how its performed for me in a match obviously but early signs are pointing to a superb bat.

Overall

Overall I am very pleased with what I have got! Obviously cannot wait to get using it and hope it performs (I am sure it will). Would recommend the service, am sure you will get the same treatment as I did. Just drop him an email even if it’s just for an enquiry, that’s all I did!

Will get pictures very soon.

Any questions feel free to ask….

Looks so much nicer when you have it in your hands I tell you that! :P Gary was really good to deal with, think he is doing a top job down in Devon! Just been having another little test with the mallet....really does have a great sound and 'ping' after just recieving it! Very good purchase indeed.

Very very envious - looks a quality piece of willow (one of the best I have seen for a while) and really like the profile as it looks like there will be an elongated sweet spot which is something I would require! Hope it serves you well and sure it will by the look of it. Played against a chap this year with a Redback which also looked like a gun of a bat, but unfortunately to hoots of derision from his team mates he was out first ball so didn't get to see how it performed!

As Eaowbear says i also need a large sweet spot. I love the look of this bat especially as it has the surefire shape. I find it hard to find the middle of my F. Superbest but my surefire is so easy! Im sure this bat will be no diff

Yeah, this bat looks fantastic!  i have to agree with you about the middle's on the Superbest's (mine seems to be the size of a 2p piece!)  Again another fantastic bat from Redback!!
