By the way Mike, I know that Newbery bats generally have a letter and number to signify the year and batch it was made, assuming they are not grabbed before they have the stamp put on! 
But one of my Newbery bats has D5Z on? So D is year and 5 is batch. But any idea what the Z is for?

Sachin uses a wide variety of bat makers.
I know the one that he was using in his early season rich vein of form was a BAS, but he does like a newberry.
i play in Sussex and you always see "one of Sachin's bats" some of them are grwatit has to be said.

We played against someone with a Chris gayle Newbery the other week.
The bat was a big blade, long handles monster. It came up to my shoulders and didn't feel like any bat i had ever picked up. Completely different weighting

I am guessing Newbery cursed the willow? And made special edges with extra carry!?
