Looks as though the Thruxton falls in between the GT and the top of the range SPS gloves and pads!
The RRP for the Thruxton will be £99.99 for the pads and £65 for the gloves. Obviously they will retail cheaper than that from Owzat and other internet retailers.

fair enough, would definitely never pay 100 for pads, reckon i would pay up to 80 for a premium pair, and 50 for gloves

I would imagine that the Thruxton pad and gloves would retail for that sort of price (£80/50) via the more reasonable internet sites! Never take too much notice of the RRP - it's merely the Suggested price!

I can see by the price lists that Salix, Newbery, etc all have a price lists. These list the Trade prices - these are obviously prices they sell to the trade for.
And they also have the Suggested prices too! This way, most of the retailers will have a good idea how much they are expected to sell to the public for! But the true price retailers charge will be dependant on how many overheads they have - for example, an internet only retailer should be able to sell a little cheaper than a shop, as their costs should be less!
Plus some retailers buy in bulk and are offered more of a discount!

So in terms of comparison to say Salix, and other big(ish) brands, were these pads, cheap, middle or higher range price-wise?

Are you talking about the RRP of the Thruxton in particular?

Not a fan of those thruxton softs, viewing them on my blackberry though. I will take a better look on my laptop in a bit.

Well - Salix are similar in price.
Both are top end product. The Salix Pod 1 pads and gloves (and Pod Black gloves) are RRP of around £100/£70 (£100 for pads and £70 for gloves.) The Newbery Thruxton (£100/£65) and SPS (£110/£70) are the same kind of excellent quality!
The Thruxton have now introduced the impact gel technology but unless you play on a very bouncy wicket where the opposition bowlers are serving up some 90mph+ balls, then who knows how much the gel will be needed.
Let's just say that if the top of the range Salix and Newbery softs are not good enough for you, then good luck!  :(

I would say that quality wise there would be little or nothing to choose between them. So I would try them on to see if either fit you better that the other, and if they all fit you well then maybe choose whichever colour and style you prefer!

Good advice the mighty Hosk :),

May well be heading down to Dummer Farm, so did the chase pads and gloves, bags etc look any good?

Plus what was this scuff sheet technology like ?

Thanks

Chris

Tommy my boy...the impact gel was by the fingers, as the impact caused by ball (which normally traps and fingers between bat and ball) is where the finger damage occurs! I did ask if they can then use less 'normal' padding to lighten the glove, but they said that they still use the same amount of padding.

Yes - the Chase gloves and pads looked decent enough. Was more interested in the Beluga bat so should have paid a little more attention!!
The gel can help 'self repair' any damage and sort of bong it together a little! Or this is how I understood it at least!
Not sure whether they incorporate it into the sheet, but I would assume they do.
