Samit Patel is, in fact, a legend. This is a man who decided that eating curry was more important than playing for England and getting loads of money. He sits alongside Jimmy (at least I'm the best player in my family) Ormond who also got dropped for being to fat and prefering food (or beer) to cash and glory.

Just because Michael Vaughan was England captian, the best player in the world, glorious redeemer of the Ashes in 2005, doesn't make him any more of a legend than Samit Patel.

oh. I see your point.

Ian Austin - he was a player "With a waistline somewhere between Billy Bunter and Friar Tuck, Austin was an unlikely sporting figure. His approach to the wicket wasn't exactly threatening either - he trundled in with short, rhythmic strides - but he was accurate and could move the ball off the seam"

I always thought it was a shame he wasn't part of Adam Hollioake's squad of legends which (dubiously) lifted the Akai Singer Champions Trophy in Sharjah... Dougie Brown, Matthew Flemming, Ali Brown, Mark Ealham, Nick Knight, Graham Thorpe, Graham Hick, Alec Stewart, Dean Headley, Berty Croft... our finest one day team... erhem.
