Woodworm, d30 Technology
« on: September 10, 2010, 07:34:26 AM »

Purchased these pads from the club I play for as they bought a load of gear from a company that went bust. The guy who went bust previously worked for Woodworm so can only assume they came from his time there.
They have the d30 technology and have heard these were the prototype. Just wondered if anyone knows anything about them? Are they decent pads? Should I keep or should i sell?
Never been used, was gonna save them until next year, but now i have my eye on the new Ayrtek. Decisions, decisions.

I could not find any info on the woodwork site or online stockists mate. I know the d30 is used in other brand pads but these have me scratching my head.

I thought GM now had exclusivity for the use of d30 in cricket products? These may have been a trial with the d30 before d30 themselves agreed a deal with GM? Don't like the pads myself but the d30 stuff is decent so they will probably be decent!

I'd love to try some gear with this d30 stuff in it. Although I was under the impression GM were the only ones who were licensed to use it?

d3o were trying to get their product into the cricket market by having other brands use the materials....we were approached by them when working with CCC a while back so it wouldnt suprise me if it had a small element of it in the pads. As samples they may not have gone into production as using the d3o meant a large increase in cost price ???

Its a very good material but the cost price per sq metre would make u fall off your chair! plus its not exactly light to use in any decent sized area. It will be a bright orange material if you can see it the obvious place to situate this would be behind the padding in the shins but the layers on top should offer adequate protection anyway which was why we didnt look to use it in our glove/pad designs previously.....

You could say I got a good bargain as you say the d30 technology is expensive. :D
Looks like ill be keeping them to use as my training pads then.

All that prototype gear was pretty cheap for us wasn't it?
I say we perform an on the wicket open pad surgery!

£10 for a set of new pads is a pretty decent price!
So whatever you do with them, you got a good deal.  8)

Awwww behave man! Would be interesting to cut them open!!
I think hunts batmakers made the very top end bats including a few for fred and pieterson but i am
Unsure about the rest as I believe they were part machined in India.
