It is always gutting as a batsmen!

second over of a match this year, i had taken 10 off the first 5 balls. Went for a cut shot, nailed it. But....

a friend of mine at point full length jump with full arm read jumped up and plucked it from the air. Not happy!!!!

Another one, played in a tour match against a colt team. They had 2 players, one a left arm bowler and one a right arm bowler. they both had  busted hands, their non bowling one. So they opened the bowling then went of and didnt bat.

Anyway. i skied one and saw one of the guys with the bad hand under and though, 'i'm safe'. he caught it one handed! And then again, we played a 10-10 match after and he did it again to me on the boundary.

I was so annoyed!!

I stood in as keeper in the last league game I played, in the the 2nd over a guy nicked one to first slip but I instinctively dived at took it one-handed in front of his face, although the ball was travelling slowly...

Then about 20 overs later I took another similar catch, but it was from a quicker bowler and was probably inbetween 1 and 2nd slip.. definately the best I have taken.

The best catch I have ever seen was Arul Suppiah at Taunton about 4 years ago against Surrey. Ali Brown whacked one low to his left at Mid-on, and he ran about 5 metres with a full-length dive, taking it about 30cm's off the ground! In my opinion it was better than Collingwood's to remove Hayden in 2005.....

Best as a keeper was to a left hand bat right arm over bowler bat went to cut so I moved to my left then he inside edges it and I had to dive the opposite way but still took the catch plus took one in slips a few years back that went to 3rd and I was at 1st but dived one handed to take it

Mine was similar to this AB catch not saying it was as good but my best :

Standing at leg slip to an off spinner batsman tried to flick it and my hand went down and clung on and for a sizeable guy like me to get down there was amazing

Best catch i have seen was a team mate fielding on the boundary run about 20 yards and take it at a full stretch dive take the catch but also punch him self in the face :P

Best catch I've taken was last season, I ran in a bit far from long on and realised the ball was going over my head, managed to back peddle and jump as high as I could taking the ball one handed....I have a pretty safe pair of hands normally but I still don't know how I caught it.

I don't have a best catch but a few that stand out:

1) First catch at gully  for our 1st team, diving low to my right and catching it cleanly one handed, to dismiss their form batsman.

2)  Catch at first slip, which should have been the keepers, that went low to my left, again very clean catch.

3) Running back 20 yards and taking a tumbling catch from cover, that had been skied with typical Aussie style method.

4) First ever catch from a spinner at first slip, didnt expect it as he went for the cut but went nicely at about head high and pouched it nicely.

Also taking a catch of the medium pacer down the legside is a very good feeling when I keep.....

Fielding second slip, thick edge to third slip from a 80mph bowler, palmed it to the floor, where i got a boot to it and tee'd it up about 4 foot in front of me where i full length dived to catch it between my pinky and fore finger !

Still lost, but made my day.

also, i dont keep, so had to stand in keeper in my first ever county game, never done it before,

this was in 06 when we had the dry summer, were playing in norfolk, 3 and a half hour drive, rock hard wicket, our pace bowler comes on, he was quick for our standards, bloke drives at it, inside edge down legside, ive just thrown my body at it and lunged out a left mit, and somehow it stuck,

we still have a laugh about it now whenever my fielding comes under scrutiny,

also formed one of my best friendships with the pace bowler :)

so all good :D

on the boundary, juggling the ball when it came over my head, does it count if it was a tape ball?
