Cricket Bats were banned items for hand luggage on Virgin, try the bigger bag route. Personally I'd look at Australian ebay for a bargain, so few post to the UK so just get one off there, seen Puma 6000 BD bats for $250 and huge SS and Ca LE bats for less.

Not too sure if this has happened for other people but when my neighbour was coming back from India he brought a BAS with him but wasn't aloud it as hand luggage as it could've been classed as a weapon.
