Laminated Bats
« on: November 05, 2010, 11:11:12 AM »

Why are laminated bats outlawed for use in matches under MCC rules?

The answer is that the process of laminating the bat can if done right create a more powerful blade. The methods used and the reasons behind the laminated bats available on the market differ so don't assume that all are created to be more powerful. One of the methods is to create a bigger bat by using a drier piece of wood on the back to give a bigger bat and a lower density blade.

Here is an example of how extreme you can go if you want to create a bigger bat with a normal weight, the Liger weighs 2.11 and has 54mm edges.

It is for sale if someone wants to make me an offer, I've never been able to get another despite them making this one for me as a sample.

Is this what people are looking for with a laminated bat?

Interesting. The laminate I got from Craig appears to have a huge chunk of drier wood on the back. I wonder.... best get it in the nets!

The volume of willow in the CA Gel seems to be better than the average, but this seems to be the only performance benefit from the design. This one is the absolute extreme of this method. The other method does not require a huge volume to give the benefit.
