If people with the means to do so want to buy one of these, fair play to them. If I was in the position that a grand for a bat was acceptable, I think I'd have one too.

However a benefit of being a member here is knowing that you don't have to spend a grand to get top Newbery willow.

Having seen bats sell for �60k and having received offers in excess of �35k (although both could have been memorabilia or for use) there are people willing to part with money for the best.

I guess you're paying for the experience and bragging rights more than anything.
