Probably mentioned this before, distractions do help. My best knocks have come when other things are on my mind. Sometimes you can over think things and concentrate to hard. Your always best not thinking about batting and just doing it.

I tend to take each ball as it comes and between balls talk to myself or the keeper or the slips. Thinking about the team rather than your individual performance helps as well.

  • Clear your mind, stay still and watch the ball

Sorry, had a busy day.

I do three things - first as the bowler runs in I either say concentrate/Watch the ball/ or "stay still" - this helps
As the bowler runs in I try to pick up the seam of the ball in the bowlers hand as early as possible - usually well before he enters his delivery stride.

Finally if I feel the red mist coming - it is important to stay in control. All batsman get the red mist at some stage. I try and say "respect the bowler" to stay in control. The only thing you can do is concentrate extra hard when you feel the rage hit you...
