I agree to an extent and hes a very good coach, but could it not be a case of he is coaching some of the worlds best players such as Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman? Was very similar to John Buchanan with Australia as I reckon most could have coached that group through the 06 ashes...
Greg Chappell had the same bunch of players. Yet he tried his best to cause frictions in the side. He sacked Ganguly for being old, and also dropped Sachin from the ODI side.

Kirsten seems to be laid back and therefore fits into the Indian setup quite well.

You can tell Australia are under real pressure at the moment, lots of finger pointing and the blame game etc. Ponting's time as captain for me is over and should have been after the India series. Hes been very negative in this test match and had a huge role in the dropping of Hauritz, which has proved to be a huge mistake. I'd expect him to resign at the end of the series (providing england win) and retire completely. Interesting too that the vice-captain is under the fire too and may be dropped...

Could be the changing point of the series tonight, providing england bat, bat and bat until australia are well out of the game. Don't know whether to stay up as i'm working 8.30 tomorrow morning :(
Punter's desperate to win the WC, as skipper for a 3rd time, so he may prolong his agony until March-April 2011!

Selectors may not let him as they are quite harsh when they need to be but that may have been because they had a big pool of talent to pick from let's see how big their balls are now

I dont think ponting can retire, australia arent privileged enough to have a ready made replacement. Clarke isnt that popular amongst some of the players I dont think. I think the main problem is Australian captains generally retire when giving up the captaincy and to be honest i think aus still need his batting. I think there biggest concern is the age of their senior players Ponting, Hussey, Katich are all getting on!

If they're looking for a new captain, than Cameron White is the man. Whether his batting is good enough, is a different matter all together...

Every Aussie I've spoken to have said his technique is poor, but he could easily bat at 7, Haddin moves up to 6.

Ponting and Clarke certainly don't warrant their places in the side at the minute based on their current form

Clarke maybe but I'd have Ponting in my team, got a 50 at more than a run a ball last test and did well in India.
