Strippers or Thigh Pad combos
« on: December 20, 2010, 02:32:00 PM »

What do people tend to go for? I have always used thigh pads but have been told the P2's are very good and light.

Can anyone recommened any? don't want anything too bulky...

I stand corrented...it was Fattus that did the baking. Sorry Buzz, although if you have dabbled in the art of pastry, I would love to hear about it

I use Remfry after using the others Ace and Buchanan there not a patch in my eyes on Remfry..

I think the Ace are good but slightly heavy for my liking and the Buchanan, and i suspect the Remfry would last longer then the terry toweling of the ACE.

Only drama ref the Remfry is the cost but i suspect they will last at least a good 10 seasons

i am lucky i dont find the ace pads heavy, If i was to have a pair of remfry to compare to, I might make the same comparison, I contemplated the Remfry's but felt the money to be spent was not fully justified.

Just been on the remfry website. Would cost me £100ish before postage...

Pro, what pads did you go for in the end? You had the exact same requirements as me

I do have some form of qualification in cooking - but as far as cake's and Pastries go - ginsters is about as far as I go - Unless Mrs Buzz is cooking some of her famed fruit cake (which as it is almost Christmas, there is one out the back soaking in Brandy as we speak...)

JNC86 - the real question is how tall are you and what is your budget - Personally unless you are looking for something top end or are really tall - get the £20 Kookaburra ones - not sure what they are called now, probably Rogue or Kahuna. I think they are great value - but wont last as long as the more expensive models, perhaps 2 seasons. The strippers are really good and loads of pro's use them (Sangakarra, Swann etc...) so you can't go wrong with them. I am a fan of the Hawk ones, as mentioned in the other post, and these are at a comparable price point to the P2's.
If you are going to go for custome ones, the ACE ones don't last as well as the Remfry ones, as far as I can tell (although my mate who has them hasn't really looked after his kit...)

I am 5'10 Buzz, and don't really have a budget as such, just want to make sure I have something that offers adequate protection and are nice and light. I think the Strippers do seem the way forward from what you are saying, have seen them for about £35 which seems reasonable. I look after my kit so would like to think I can get a few seasons out of them. At 24, I'm not going to grow much more over the coming years.

Regarding baking, my missus would give Delia a run for her money. Currently have a sticky date and prune cake (with overtones of whiskey) sitting in a quality street tin...looking forward to a nibble on that later

I recommend you try the Aero strippers on before you decide to buy. I've found that they have a very different feel to other thigh pads.
