Professional players bats specifications
« on: December 21, 2010, 09:22:14 PM »

I have seen alot of people on here wanting to get hold of "pro's bats" but I was wondering something different.

Does anybody know exactly what certain pro's go for? I'm probably looking more at the bat makers here for answers but if other forum members know for certain then please share.

For Example :- Weight, amount of grains, handle type, how many grips etc...

I know quite a lot of pros are concerned about how the bats feels in their hands and performance. Botha, who uses Lekka, if the bat feels good in his habds, Is off and away with it,
Not many are that fussed with looks, as long as it goes like a rocket, but I know ian bells  a bit of a bat nerd and wants looks, performance and pickup!
Hope that helps :)

I had one of Bell's Adidas Incruza bat (not sure if it was from his bag or a reject) and it was simply the best Adidas bat I have seen till date. Perfect grains, amazing pik-up and a dream middle. Think I sold it to some lucky chap on this forum......

Was it actually adidas made? Or not: I'm wondering if it was stickered..? I heard from someone that pietersen actually uses the incurza, just with pellara stickers..which I though quite interesting!

think it had 12-14 grains with no heartwood. The pick-up was very light so guess it might have been a 2.8/2.9-ish (did not weigh it). slightly thicker handle than usual. Was told he puts 2-3 grips on his bats.

Cannot forget the the amazing feel and the middle of the bat.

Not sure where was it made. But was definately an Incruza. Not sure if the KP bat is a Incruza as KP's bat has a different spine design like a Pellera. Maybe the middle position is like that on the Incruz. Hard to say unless someone has had a look at them.

Just to add on the KP bat. I saw both KPs and Freddy's bats being made at SS in India a couple of years back. Blanks to be stickered up. Very special bats and the way they were being made was miles off the way the other top of the range shop bats were being made.

Cozzie isnt overly fussy at all - as long as its around 2-8 to 2-9 or sometimes a little heavier for T20.  Hes started liking loads of heartwood at the moment - some nearly all red.

Brownie likes them lighter around 2-7, very thin handle and as big as poss.  Hes doing a bit of experementing for this season, so im taking 4/5 tweeks of shapes for him to have a net with towards the middle of Jan.

Generally, most of the pros i've delt with, both sponsored and paying customers, like them around 2-8 to 2-9 and generally are not much more fussy than that.  They have normally seen one of my previous bats, like it, so go with the same as that.

How were they made differently?

Mainly pressing and keeping a close eye on the pick-up and balance of the bat throught out the bat making process. Bot to mention getting these bats made from their best bat maker. Think the handles were a bit different as well.
