Worth a go

Better than Prior opening in my opinion.

The great thing in hitting is, not to be half-hearted about it; but when you make up your mind to hit, to do it as if the whole match depended upon that particular stroke.

It's better than prior opening, we need to make use of the hard new ball and with Pietersen being 'our best player' it makes sense that he goes in at the top of the order. However I'd still like to see Bell opening.

I'd have trott opening as he does it at county level so why not at the top level

I don't think you can take Trott away from No.3, he's there to add security to the top order so that the opening pair can go and express themselves a bit and then Trott can come in and pick up the pieces if need be. With Strauss + an aggressive player opening, runs are going to come quickly however if someone goes early then he can come in and steady the ship and then pick up the scoring. If Strauss and Trott opened then it could be a little slow to start with and then you're not making the most of the hard ball at the start of the innings and then leaves too much to do down the order.

Trott opens in t20 for the bears and was the highest scorer with a top strike rate dont let the fact he takes his time in tests fool you I have watched him go after the bowling and bell could bat 3

Couldn't agree more. Trott at 2, KP at 3

I think it's a good positive move by England.
